Vehicles less than 10 years old require an NCT every 2 years.  Vehicles older than 10 years must undergo the test every 12 months.  You can check when your next NCT test is due here.

CRV tests for commercial vehicles must be done every 12 months.  You can check when your next CRV test is due here.

If your car fails its NCT test, you’ll receive a list of defects. If any are described as “dangerous,” you must not drive the vehicle until those faults have been rectified.  All defects must be attended to, and then a retest done.  Your retest must be done within 30 days.

If your commercial vehicle fails a CRV test, you must get all the faults repaired.  If you complete the repairs within 10 days, you can have a partial retest done, which will only check the previously identified faults have been repaired.  If you miss this 10-day window, a full retest will be required and a second fee will be payable.

Typically around an hour, but this can vary.  It is advisable to arrive 20-30 minutes before the booked test time, and bring all your paperwork with you.

A CRV test for a “light” commercial vehicle will take between 30 and 60 minutes.

A CRV test for a “heavy” commercial vehicle will take between 60 and 120 minutes.

This is very dependent on the make, model, engine size, and age of your vehicle.  Typically an annual service will take between 1 and 3 hours to complete.

Servicing intervals for your car if it has remaining manufacturer warranty, are dictated by the manufacturer’s warranty servicing schedule.

If the manufacturer’s warranty period has expired, you can choose a servicing routine tailored by us to your individual vehicle and driving habits such as, annual mileage, OR we can continue to follow the manufacturer’s servicing schedule throughout the life of the vehicle.  The choice is yours.

No, you do not.  Many people still think this is required to preserve the manufacturer’s warranty, but it isn’t.  You are free to use an independent garage like us at Cloverhill Autos, in Ballyfermot, Dublin, and any remaining warranty will be unaffected.  We can also update your OSR (online service record), if appropriate.
